Every year the Unit undergoes an inspection by the Navy to ensure that the standards of excellence expected by the Sea Cadet Corps is maintained.
This year the inspection was conducted by Commander S.Watt RN, with the Divisional Officer Lt Commander P.Perry RNR, and was attended by the
Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, The Lady Gretton, JP.
Also at the RNP were invited guest who have helped us during the past year including Mr Michael Roalfe, Provincial Grand Master for Leicestershire and Rutland, Major G.Simpson TD DL of the E.Mids Reserve Forces & Cadets Association, and Supt. C.Rollings of the Leics Constabulary.

Afterwards the Cadets performed their minor & major evolutions.

The minor evolution was a demonstration of communications and strategy called minesweeper whereby 2 teams of cadets and volunteer (read, pressganged!) parents are navigated through a 'minefield' using whistles and horns in a code.

The major evolution involved a demonstration of an RAS (Replinishment At Sea) from ship to ship using a light jack stay

This is a method of transferring goods from ship to ship.

 

It is used as an evolution to demontrate the cadet's knowledge of ropes, bends & hitches, and tackle.

At the end of the evening the ships company assembled on deck for evening colours and presentations
