Royal Naval Parade May 2006 Every year the Unit undergoes an inspection by the Navy to ensure that the standards of excellence expected by the Sea Cadet Corps is maintained. Welcome to TS Tiger
Guests were greeted on arrival by the Chairman of the unit Mr Nicholas Miles.
The Lady Gretton and Cdr Watt chatting before the inspection
Cdr Watt and the Lady Gretton inspected the Cadets and talked with them about their time and experiences within the Sea Cadets
Afterwards the Cadets performed their minor & major evolutions. The minor evolution was a demonstration of communications and strategy called minesweeper whereby 2 teams of cadets and volunteer (read, pressganged!) parents are navigated through a 'minefield' using whistles and horns in a code.
The major evolution involved a demonstration of an RAS (Replinishment At Sea) from ship to ship using a light jack stay .
This is a method of transferring goods from ship to ship.
It is used as an evolution to demontrate the cadet's knowledge of ropes, bends & hitches, and tackle.
It also demonstrates that they can work as a team These pictures show essential supplies being passed from 'ship' to 'ship'

At the end of the evening the ships company assembled on deck for evening colours and presentations
This year's Trophies were awarded to the following,
Best Male Cadet - OC Roy Rollings
Best Junior Cadet - J1C Flower
Best Dressed Cadet - AC Pedley
