19th September - Anstey Gala

Cadets entertained the crowds by carrying out 2 performances of their Musical Drill display.  Many thanks to everyone who came to our marquee to chat and support us and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Performing the Musical Drill Display

The Musical Drill display which the Cadets performed is no longer taught as standard to Cadets but it is something that they have taken on as an extra to the normal syllabus. The rifles used are Lee Enfield No4 Rifles which are almost 10lbs(4.5 kg) in weight (that's 5 bags of sugar) and 44inches(111cm) in length (which is about the height of you average 5-6 year old). These are a cumbersome weapon for a young teenager to be swinging around but with practice the Cadets make it look effortless and I am sure you will agree they did look practiced and smart on the day.
