Bluejackets

* We are called bluejackets after the blue jackets of the 'square rig' unform. This is the uniform that is most commonly associated with sailors, however, the wearing of blue jackets was phased out around 1890 and the black jacket that we now wear for ceremonial rig came into use. The name bluejackets has still remained in use to this day .
